The Coral Creature appears in "Reef Grief!", an episode of What's New, Scooby-Doo?. It is a real monster, as opposed to a disguised human, living in the Great Barrier Reef.
It was a large creature made of orange coral. Like Pac-Man and his kin, the Coral Creature did not have a torso; its arms and legs were connected directly to its head.
The Coral Creature, while not hostile to humans by default, was disturbed by Spencer Johnson's plan to build a tunnel through the Great Barrier Reef, causing it to attack people on the beach.
The Coral Creature was believed to be responsible for pulling people beneath the beach, but again it was a part of Spencer's elaborate plan. In an act of kindness, it redeemed itself by rescuing Scooby-Doo from a flood.
The Coral Creature was one of the few real monsters of the animated Scooby-Doo franchise. It was also one of the few monsters that had nothing to do with the mystery, as it was merely disturbed by the villain's plan.
