Hanna-Barbera recordings go all the way back to the late 1950s. The earliest ones were 78 and 45 rpm singles released on Golden Records. Soon after, full-length LP's were released on Colpix Records, which was a division of Columbia Pictures, whose Screen Gems division was the distributor of their television cartoons.
In 1965, Hanna-Barbera Records was formed. This label released many albums and singles, of not only soundtracks of Hanna-Barbera animated features and TV series. But included more Hanna-Barbera.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Hanna-Barbera story records and soundtracks could be found on many different labels. By the 1990s, when the studio had become part of Warner Bros., Rhino Records (also a division of Warner Bros.) began to release CD's of Hanna-Barbera material.
