Snagglepuss is a character created by Hanna-Barbera in 1959.
About Snagglepuss[]
He is a hot pink anthropomorphic mountain lion with an upturned collar, two cuffs and a black tie. He's best known for his famous catchphrase, "Heavens to Murgatroyd!", along with phrases such as "Exit, stage left!" (or stage right, and sometimes even up or down), a phrase used in theatrical stage directions. Finally, Snagglepuss tends to add the word "even" to the end of his statements, even.
Snagglepuss lives in a state of constant dread, which he constantly tries to make more habitable for himself. No matter what he does, however, he always winds up back where he started or worse off than he was before.
His "birthday" is September 30th. I don't know why the person who wrote this article before I edited it put that word in quotation marks.
In his earliest appearances in The Quick Draw McGraw Show, he was orange (and sometimes brown instead of pink and called Snaggletooth). In later episodes, Snaggletooth was referred to as Snagglepuss' cousin. In the episode "One Too Many", Snaggletooth appears as Snagglepuss' freeloading identical twin brother.
Appearances[]
He first appeared in several shorts of The Quick Draw McGraw Show and became a regular segment on The Yogi Bear Show. Daws Butler based the character's voice on Bert Lahr's Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, which at one point caused some confusion to the point where Mr. Lahr threatened legal action against Hanna-Barbera and Kellogg's. To resolve the matter, it was decided to place a disclaimer at the end of Snagglepuss' Kellogg's TV ads, stating, "Snagglepuss voice by DAWS BUTLER".
In some episodes, Snagglepuss is chased by Major Minor (voiced by Don Messick), a tiny mustachioed hunter, whose chases seem similar to the ones which involve Elmer and Bugs Bunny. Major Minor requests provisions for a safari in the episode "Lion Tracks" from an Adventurers Club functionary named Levitt Kalmbach.
Snagglepuss also appeared in other Hanna-Barbera series, such as Yogi's Gang in 1973, Scooby's All-Star Laff-a-Lympics in 1977 and 1978, Yogi's Treasure Hunt in 1985.
When he appeared on Fender Bender 500, Snagglepuss was voiced by Greg Burson due to Daws Butler's passing 2 years earlier. He was paired up with Huckleberry Hound as they drove a monster truck called the Half-Dog, Half-Cat, Half-track; it resembled the Battle Pass. In Yo Yogi! (1991), Snagglepuss was voiced by Greg Burson as well.
He appears in Jellystone! in where he is a local news reporter.

Sexuality[]
Rumors and jokes about the character's sexuality date to the 1961 creation of Snagglepuss. Creator Joseph Barbera said in a conversation with Steve Marmel, "He was modeled after Bert Lahr. He was anything but gay. He beat his wife!" Two HB Productions show Snagglepuss having attraction or affection to the opposite sex: the shorts "Spring Hits a Snag" and "Rent and a Rave" feature his love interest Lila, a female mountain lion. it turns out that he’s not gay
In the 21st century, creators became more expansive about depicting Snagglepuss more flamboyantly. In a 2001 commercial for Adult Swim, he talks to Wilma Flintstone about rumors that he has heard around the office. In another advertisement for Cartoon Network, he sits at a table with a majority of women from various HB productions for a very brief moment.[3] After DC Comics acquired the right to produce rebooted, grittier versions of classic HB properties, Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles was published in 2018, with Snagglepuss as a 1950s gay playwright in the midst of the McCarthy Era.
Melody Iza, one of the show artists of Jellystone!, confirmed on her Twitter page that Snagglepuss is gay in the show continuity.
Snagglepuss was voiced by gay voice actor J.P. Karliak in the Teen Titans Go! episode "Warner Bros. 100th Anniversary."
Gay actor Jim Parsons will voice Snagglepuss in an upcoming animated series.
