Martin Hayter Short (born March 26, 1950, in Hamilton, Ontario) is a Canadian actor and comedian. He played the lead role on The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley.
Martin Short is aptly named, for he stands only 5 feet 7½ inches tall. His most famous comic characters are Ed Grimley, a nerd who is obsessed with banal pop culture, and Jeremy Glick, an eccentric celebrity interviewer who happens to be morbidly obese.
Short has three adult children by his wife, Nancy Dolman, a fellow Canadian whose TV credits included Soap and Custard Pie, both in 1977. The couple were married from December 1980 until her death in August 2010.
