Frederick Alan "Rick" Moranis (born April 18, 1953, in Toronto) is a Canadian actor and comedian. In 1990, he played the lead role on Rick Moranis in Gravedale High. In 1994, he played Barney Rubble in the live-action Flintstones film.
Rick Moranis began his career as a radio announcer while he was still at high school, which led to him writing, producing and starring in his own show. He joined the Canadian sketch series SCTV, winning an Emmy for writing and portraying Bob McKenzie. The character became the basis for the film Strange Brew, which Moranis co-wrote and co-directed, and in which he made his film acing debut. His character in Ghostbusters II was similar to one he played on SCTV.
