Frederick Bean "Tex" Avery (February 26, 1908–August 26, 1980) was an American animator, best known as a director at the animation unit of Warner Bros. till he had a falling out over his endings and gags with Leon Schlesinger and moved to MGM. While at MGM, he created the character Southern Wolf, who would later inspire the character of Huckleberry Hound.

Shortly before his death, Avery created The Kwicky Koala Show for Hanna-Barbera.
